Reduce Your Online Banking Transaction Limits

Description

Credit cards are increasingly used for purchases, and banking apps have become common for managing transactions and checking expenses. However, this feature has also attracted malicious actors who try to steal or withdraw the users' money, carry out banking transactions, and purchase expensive items. In such cases, the victim can suffer substantial losses before they are able to block their card or account.

Banking institutions often assign default transaction limits that are higher than the customer's average spending. Therefore, to avoid future losses, when installing your banking app or activating a new credit card, remember to always check and adjust the limits according to your spending habits.

Reducing your transaction limits can usually be done almost instantly, but increasing these limits can take up to 24 hours, especially in the case of bank transfers.

Even with a lower limit, if you notice any unusual activity, it's important to block your card immediately and, if necessary, also block your account.

If you've fallen victim to theft or a banking scam, in addition to blocking your card or accounts, gather all the information about the fraudulent transactions and file a police report. Also report the incident to your bank and to any other bank that may have received transfers from your account.

If the bank does not respond appropriately, you can contact consumer protection agencies and the appropriate authority or even take legal action.
Always remember to enable notifications for transactions and purchases, as this will make it easier to detect any type of suspicious activity on your account.
