Be Careful When Exposing Your Children on the Internet

Description

The arrival of a baby often makes parents want to record every moment of their child's life and share it with their family and friends. Photos of milestones, cute expressions, meals, first steps, school days, and more are published daily on social media.

While the Internet shortens distances and helps us connect and share moments with others, it's important to be aware of the content that will be published in the photos and the audience that will have access to these images. Turning social media into a family photo album and posting the child's private moments exposes them to potential risks such as scams, kidnapping, or dissemination on adult content websites or groups, among others.

When posting photos of children on the Internet, it's necessary to take a series of precautions. Parents and guardians must find a balance between respecting their children's privacy and the desire to share family moments. Without this balance, children may be exposed to a series of risks.

Here are some tips to protect your child from excessive exposure on the Internet:

Don't post nude or semi-nude photos of children, even if they're covered with a sticker or banner, whether at bath time or at the beach. People with bad intentions may post them on inappropriate websites.
Avoid sharing your children's routines, the places they frequent, where they study, or even photos in their school uniforms. This kind of information can make them more vulnerable to potential kidnappings.
Keep your social media profiles private and don't accept friend requests from strangers. Criminals may steal your child’s information to create fake profiles.
Don't create social media accounts for minors. Let them make their own decisions when they’re old enough to do so. And, of course, always with your proper guidance.

Protect your child!
