Learn to Identify Fake News

Description

With so much interesting content circulating on social media and messaging apps, it can be tempting to share news without verifying their veracity or authenticity. But doing so can have serious consequences.

Sharing fake news can generate disinformation, harm individuals and organizations, and make it harder for people to share truthful information, as people may find it difficult to distinguish between what's true and what's false. That's why it's essential to verify the information you receive before sharing it.

To identify whether a piece of news is fake, it's important to pay attention to certain warning signs. Fake news usually includes sensationalist or alarmist headlines and ask the reader to share them. They often have a large number of likes or comments and usually don’t provide information about the author, source or publication date, or if they do, it may be outdated or incorrect.

You should also pay attention to the content itself. If it contains grammatical errors, sensationalist claims, or inconsistent content, this may be a sign that the news is not reliable.

If you're not sure, try looking for the same news on other trusted sources, such as reputable news sites. Additionally, certain websites specialize in identifying whether a news story is fake. Try searching these.

Finally, be cautious when clicking on links included in the article, as these could be a scam attempt. Before clicking, analyze the context and check the details. If you are unsure, don't click on the link. Do you suspect that a news story may be fake? Don't share it.

Description
In the first scene, a woman sees a sensationalist news story on social media and considers sharing it. At the top of the screen, a headline appears: “Be careful not to share fake news!”. A warning symbol then appears next to the headline.

In the second scene, the text changes to “Pay attention to the warning signs”. Speech bubbles appear, highlighting suspicious elements in the news: a sensationalist headline, no author, no date, many likes and shares, lack of coherence, no source. The woman points at the speech bubbles and seems surprised.

In the third scene, the woman realizes the news is fake and decides not to share it. A ‘False’ label and ‘Forbidden’ sign appear over the news. The final text in the video reads “Use common sense and when in doubt, don't share”.
