Electronic Waste

Description

E-waste, also known as electronic waste or Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), refers to discarded objects or parts of electronic and electrical devices such as cellphones, televisions, microwave ovens, batteries, and others.Improper disposal of these devices (for example, throwing them in regular trash bins or leaving them on the streets) is considered an environmental crime, as it harms public health and damages the environment by contaminating the soil and groundwater with highly toxic components like lead, mercury, and cadmium. That's why proper e-waste disposal is essential.

In addition, many of these items contain materials that can be recycled, such as plastic and precious metals like gold and silver.

Here's a tip: when you need to dispose of an old, no longer in use, or damaged device, look for the nearest e-waste collection point or check if the device's manufacturer or distributor offers a similar service. If these options are not available, search online for companies and projects that offer free collection services at your residence. After all, properly disposing of your e-waste contributes to preserving our environment!

Video Description

In the first scene, a man is deep in thought. Next to him, there are various broken or discarded devices, such as a computer monitor, a microwave oven, a cellphone, some cables, and batteries. At the top of the screen, the phrase "Don't know where to dispose of your electronic waste?" appears.

In the second scene, the character stands next to a regular trash bin and throws in some of the electronic devices. He then gives a thumbs down, indicating disapproval, and a prohibition symbol appears over the trash bin. The phrase "Don’t dispose of them with the regular trash!" appears.

The third and final scene starts with the phrase "Look for an electronic waste collection point." The character walks with a suitcase in hand to an e-waste collection point. He stands next to a bin and throws the items into it. Then, the man points to the bin, which closes as the man claps, pleased with his conscious action. The last phrase appears at the top of the screen: "Collaborate with the environment!"
